Summer has a way of slowing us down, and I hope these weeks have given you space to rest, reconnect, and enjoy one another. Here at St. Luke’s, we’re busy preparing for the school year ahead, and as we do, we want to share our new annual theme and verse. Our theme for 2026–27 is “Built on the Rock,” based on Matthew 7:24-25:
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.”
Our world is filled with constant change. Friends come and go, we move to new homes or cities (that’s me!), and it can feel like nothing stays the same. But one thing in our lives never changes — our God. He is the Rock on which we stand and whom our lives are built. No matter what storms we encounter, Jesus remains our supporter and defender. When everything around us shifts and shakes, we are safe in His arms.
For a school that spans Preschool through 8th grade, this truth takes shape differently at every age — a preschooler learning to share and be kind, a third grader memorizing a psalm, an eighth grader wrestling honestly with what they believe and why. At each stage, we’re not just teaching lessons; we’re helping every child lay a foundation that will hold steady long after they leave our halls. When we intentionally order our days around what matters most — time in God’s Word, faithful work, meaningful relationships, and service to one another — we aren’t just filling a schedule; we’re building a life, and a school, on the Rock.
This year, as one school family, we’ll unite around this theme by putting Christ’s words into practice — in our classrooms, across our campus, in our homes, and in our relationships with one another. When we do, we become a community marked by wisdom, faithfulness, and stability, able to stand firm together through every season.
