There’s a phrase that gets tossed around a lot in the field of education: “lifelong learner”. As
educators, we want our students to develop a love of learning that will continue long after
they’ve left the walls of our school. We want them to pursue knowledge in a myriad of ways –
reading books, following the news, visiting museums and historical sites, attending seminars
and speeches, and more. Learning never stops!

I’ve been thinking about “lifelong learning” in the context of our theme for this school year
“Lord, Teach Us to Pray” based on Philippians 4:6. In Jeremiah 33:3 God tells us, “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”
When we think about lifelong learning, prayer is probably not the first thing that comes to
mind. However, prayer is not just a way to get help from God or seek comfort and support. It
can also be a source of knowledge and wisdom. God is the keeper of all truth, and we should
seek Him as the ultimate source of all that’s worth knowing. Want to be a lifelong learner? Keep
praying!
