What would you have said if I’d told you in August your kids would not return to the school campus after spring break because of a virus? Sounds like science fiction, right? Who could predict we would go to work and school only through a screen? Did you even know what “social distancing” was before 2020? Are you still going through all that toilet paper you bought?

We are living through a time we probably never imagined. Like me I’m sure you have days when you’re anxious, scared, or totally unsure what’s happening next. Maybe someone you know became sick with the coronavirus or you feared you had it. Perhaps your child or family has missed out on fun events like a vacation or family reunion or Disney trip. You may have lost your job or found your hours or income radically reduced.

I know I’ve been scared. Will school ever open again? Will I still have a job if it doesn’t? What should I be doing to keep my family healthy and safe? Will college football season still start on time in the fall (priorities!)

In times of uncertainty like the coronavirus pandemic I rely on Bible verses like this one: “We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf.” Hebrews 6:19-20a. I rejoice and take great comfort that I serve and worship a Savior Jesus who is stronger than any virus! Even on those days when I’m discouraged and things seem hopeless, I keep the faith because Jesus guides and protects me. He has seen me through every storm and trial in my life – and He will be with me through this pandemic just like He will with you. To God be all the glory and honor and praise!
