I hope and pray that each of you is having a relaxing and joyous summer! Here at St. Luke’s we are busy planning and preparing for the upcoming school year. One of our favorite things to do is to develop a theme for the new year. I’m pleased to share with you that the theme for 2019-2020 is “Christ-fit for Service” based on 1 Peter 4:10-11: “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace…whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.” Each month will have a different verse related to the theme identifying a characteristic of “Christ-fit” service.

Service to others is a necessary and important part of our spiritual growth and discipleship path with God. Acting as a servant is more than doing nice things for people when we have spare time and money. It’s humbling ourselves and sacrificing our most precious time and treasure to meet the needs of others instead of our own. Jesus set the ultimate example of how to serve through how He lived His life and His sacrifice for us on the cross. We serve because He first served us. He will equip us and make us “Christ-fit” to serve in every way.

I pray that the remainder of your summer is full of fun! Never forget that no matter where you travel you have a home here at St. Luke’s where we are “Christ-fit” to serve, care for, and love you in all things.
