This will be my last time to write to you as your Superintendent at St. Luke’s. I have written a
regular Wildcat newsletter essay for many years, and it’s hard to believe that this will be my last
one. As I head into my last days as Superintendent, I’ll confess I’ve taken a little time now and
then to look back and reflect on my time here. I’m sure there will be a lot more of that after I’m
done.
As I think back on the last 10 years, I recognize that there have been a lot of ups and downs,
changes and surprises. But the one constant is how I have consistently been blessed by God in
the form of people who have been sent into my ministry to love, support, encourage, and
inspire me. It’s hard for me to describe how many times God has sent someone into my life
when I’ve needed them most. Whether it was a child sharing a hug or a heartfelt ‘I love you Mr.
Jackson’, or a parent sending a thankful email, or a staff member leaving an encouraging note in
my box, I have been showered with blessings over and over again. Some people have told me
how excited I must be to be free of the many challenges and burdens this job can bring. But I
don’t see it that way – instead of negatives or problems, I see blessings accrued, a life full of
people sent to me from Christ, young and old alike, helping me grow spiritually and as a leader.
There are no words to describe the depth of my thanks and gratitude to each of you for
everything you have done for me and meant to me during my time as your Superintendent. You
have each in your own way been an ambassador from Christ sent personally to me, and you’ve
filled my life with more joy and positive experiences then any man has a right to deserve. May
God continue to bless you and the ministry at St. Luke’s in every way in the years ahead. Thank
you!
