Teacher Feature: Mrs. Christina Nugent
This week’s Teacher Feature is the wonderful Mrs. Christina Nugent, our Preschool through 8th grade Music Teacher. Mrs. Nugent has been a beloved part of St. Luke’s for 19 years, sharing her passion for music with generations of students. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Central Florida and finds great joy in helping students discover the beauty of music.
Mrs. Nugent says her favorite part of working at St. Luke’s is simply making music with the students. She loves seeing the excitement and joy on their faces as they experience music together. One piece of advice she always shares with her students is to keep singing—no matter what anyone might say about their voice. She believes music is for everyone and encourages her students to express themselves with confidence and joy.
A fun fact students might not know is that music once took Mrs. Nugent all the way to a tiny ski town in France called Pelvoux. While there, she spent hours each day practicing piano high in the mountains. It was an unforgettable experience that showed her how music can truly take you to incredible places around the world.
When she’s not teaching, Mrs. Nugent enjoys knitting, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her family. She and her husband, Matt, have been married for 14 years and have two children, Alyssa and Jack. St. Luke’s is grateful for Mrs. Nugent’s dedication, talent, and the joyful music she brings to our school every day.
