This week’s Teacher Feature is Ms. Clare Griffin, our fabulous second-grade teacher! Originally from Bloomington, Illinois, Clare grew up in a family dedicated to education. Her mom, an early childhood educator, and her dad, a former elementary teacher turned professor, inspired her to pursue a teaching career. She graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with a degree in Early Childhood Education and a concentration in Special Education.
Clare began her teaching journey in Preschool, where she spent three years before joining the “Big School” this year. Now in her fourth year of teaching, she finds immense joy in working with many students she previously taught as preschoolers, witnessing their growth and maturity.
Outside the classroom, Clare is a big fan of the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Cubs, and Disney. She’s visited Disneyland, Disney World, and even enjoyed a Disney cruise. Known for her delicious sugar cookies made with a secret recipe from her grandma, she also loves working out and baking. A fun fact about Clare is that in sixth grade, she managed to break both of her wrists simultaneously after falling off a swing!
Clare’s favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:6: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” She shares that her favorite part of St. Luke’s is the amazing families and the wonderful colleagues she works alongside. We’re so grateful for the joy, dedication, and passion she brings to our school community every day!
