Teacher Feature: Mrs. Barbara Lacich

May 7, 2026

This week’s Teacher Feature shines a special light on Mrs. Barbara Lacich, our incredible ACE (All Children Can Excel) Reading Support teacher—who is also celebrating her final year at St. Luke’s before a well-earned retirement. For the past seven years, Mrs. Lacich has faithfully served our students with a passion rooted in both skill and heart. Guided by her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:1, she approaches each day with a spirit of encouragement, helping struggling readers discover they are capable of success.

As she prepares for this next chapter, we reflect with gratitude on the impact she has made. Mrs. Lacich has been a steady source of support for students who needed it most, leaving a legacy of encouragement, perseverance, and growth. Her love of learning continues to shine—she holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Steubenville and plans to begin pursuing her Master’s degree this fall.

Outside the classroom, Mrs. Lacich enjoys traveling, reading, spending time with family, and hosting gatherings with loved ones. She has visited 24 countries and is already planning to explore four more this summer. Family is at the center of her life—she and her husband will celebrate 47 years of marriage this July, and together they have three sons, all married with families of their own. She is also a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren.

When asked what advice she would give her students, her message is simple but powerful: read lots of books for fun. While we will deeply miss Mrs. Lacich’s presence at St. Luke’s, we are incredibly thankful for the years she has poured into our community. Her dedication, kindness, and unwavering belief in her students have made a lasting difference, and we pray God’s continued blessings over her in this next season.
