This week’s Teacher Feature is dedicated to one of our fantastic first grade teachers, Ms. Jennifer Capozza! Ms. Capozza has a Master’s degree in Reading Education from the University of Central Florida and has been teaching for 23 years now! She shares her love of being in the first-grade classroom with her son, Kevin, who is currently in second grade here at St. Luke’s. He has actually been with us since he was just two years old starting off in our preschool! Before going into teaching, Ms. Capozza played competitive basketball. She and her team even went on to compete in Europe winning the silver medal while representing Illinois and Indiana!
Ms. Capozza enjoys teaching at St. Luke’s because she values being able to provide a Christian education to her students. Having attended Christian schools herself, being able to teach in a Christian environment, and provide that same experience for her son, is something that is a top priority for her. She appreciates the warm, welcoming, family environment that we have here and loves watching her son and students excel in different areas throughout the year.
Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 22:6 “Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.” She uses this verse as a guide for educating her children, both as a mother and as a teacher.
