Teacher Feature: Mrs. Hakimipour
This week’s Teacher Feature goes to one of our fantastic 8th grade teachers, Mrs. Suzanne Hakimipour! Mrs. Hakimipour will actually be celebrating her 14th year teaching with us this year and we are truly blessed to have her on our staff. When she is not teaching our 8th graders, she enjoys spending her time doing yoga, reading, and swimming as well as watching movies and TV with her husband and two sons.
Mrs. Hakimipour credits her love of teaching at St. Luke’s to the feeling of family that she shares with her co-workers and the joy that she receives from her students. Her most memorable moment here at SLLS was when she was teaching 7th grade. Her students wrote a letter to the Celtic singer Loreena McKennitt who wrote a song based on the poem “The Highwayman” that they were studying at the time. Loreena McKennit’s publicist wrote the class back a lengthy letter addressing all of their questions and sent every student a DVD of Ms. McKennitt’s most recent concert! She stated that it really drove home the impact of communications skills, which she stated is her academic purpose here at St. Luke’s.
Her favorite Bible verse is Phillippians 4:8.
