Teacher Feature: Mrs. Jennifer Howard
This week’s Teacher Feature is dedicated to Mrs. Jennifer Howard, our talented and inspiring art teacher here at St. Luke’s. Now in her fourth year at St. Luke’s and her fourteenth year teaching, Mrs. Howard brings creativity, encouragement, and joy to every class she leads. Her favorite Bible verse, Galatians 5:22–23, reminds her daily of the importance of living out the fruits of the Spirit, both in the classroom and beyond.
What Mrs. Howard loves most about teaching at St. Luke’s are the students — seeing them every day and watching them grow and change each year. She encourages her students not to be too hard on themselves and to find beauty even in mistakes. “If you mess up, dress it up!” she says with a smile, reminding her students that art — and life — often has more than one way to turn out beautifully.
Many might be surprised to learn that Mrs. Howard has played competitive golf from the early age of 7 through college. She was a dedicated student-athlete who earned a golf scholarship to the only art school in the country with a collegiate athletic program. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design and a Master of Arts in Teaching Art Education from the University of Central Florida. Currently, she’s pursuing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) and intends to graduate in Spring 2026 from the University of Central Florida.
St. Luke’s is thankful for Mrs. Howard and the creativity, patience, and faith she shares with her students each day. Her passion for helping students discover their unique artistic gifts is a blessing to our school community.
