Teacher Feature: Mrs. Mary Kortus

This week’s Teacher Feature highlights Mrs. Mary Kortus, our All Children Can Excel (ACE) Math Instructional Support Teacher. Since joining St. Luke’s in July 2025, she has brought joy and dedication to her work with students across all grade levels. Mrs. Kortus values the opportunity to connect with each child and support their growth, helping build both confidence and a love of learning.

Guided by Proverbs 3:6, she approaches each day with faith and trust in God’s plan. She encourages students to give themselves grace, learn from mistakes, and recognize that growth takes time. Mrs. Kortus holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in K–8 Mathematics and Science from the University of Central Florida, and she brings both strong instructional knowledge and a caring, encouraging presence to her role.

Outside the classroom, Mrs. Kortus enjoys spending time at Disney, relaxing at the beach or pool, and attending concerts. She is a self-described “human jukebox,” especially when it comes to Disney songs. Her husband is a journeyman lineman, and her daughter attends preschool at St. Luke’s, making her connection to the school community especially meaningful. We are grateful for the opportunity to have Mrs. Kortus as part of our St. Luke’s family.
