Mrs. Portnoy is a born and raised Central Floridian and is one of our three incredible kindergarten teachers here at St. Luke’s. She currently resides in Oviedo with her husband of 14 years, Josh, and her two wonderful boys, Grayson (12) and Easton (9). When she is not at school teaching our little ones, you can usually find her spending time outdoors with her family. They love going camping together and spending time on the water either in their boat or at the beach.
Mrs. Portnoy was one of the first in her family, in addition to her grandmother, to graduate from college. Her determination to rise above her humble beginnings in order to provide a stable future for herself and her family motivated her to succeed in her studies. She decided to work here with us at St. Luke’s because she loves being with the little kids. She credits Kindergarten, in particular, as her favorite grade to teach as she adores watching our little ones learn and grow. When asked what she loves most about our school, she replied, “Our school family and community! I truly feel as everyone watches out for each other and lift each other up when we need it. A true Christian environment surrounded by love.” Her most memorable moment during her time with us has been watching each of her boys perform in our Patriotic Salute performance when they were in kindergarten. Her favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 13:4. She utilizes this verse in her classroom to instill the importance of loving, being kind and being patient to others with her students.
